January Blues

Lets be honest, we all get a little down and unmotivated as we go in to January, especially when your feeling a little fragile after New Year!
However as you know from my previous posts, 2018 is when I grab the bull by the horns! I'm motivated and excited to see what next year brings.
So if your not looking forward to January and for the holidays to finish just remember we have another season coming soon which means new styles, fresh fashion and a whole load of shopping!
Just to get you in the mood I'm giving you some snippets of what our high street brands have new in. Spring is looking sleek, sophisticated and bold with fresh colours and patterns.

New Year Resolutions

It's time!!

So even though you might not follow the tradition of setting yourself a New Year resolution I would really encourage you to do try it this year.
For 2018 I am going to set myself 10 New Year resolutions. I've chosen 10 because I've mixed it up with work, life, hobbies and well being.
Resolutions help me focus on what I want in life and reminds me to look after myself and push myself to reach my goals.
Things can always change but it's good to have something set to strive towards. If it does change, then change your goal.

1. Focus more on my hair, skin and nails. (looking after myself)
2. Hit the gym. I find it really hard to workout at home but I focus really well in the gym. Becoming healthier, motivated and more energetic.
3. Explore. Moving to Newcastle gives me the best opportunity to discover what's on my doorstep.
4. Go for a spa/ relaxation day at least once a month.
5. Save and put away money every payday.
6. Throw myself in to new experiences/ activities. For example surfing, yoga, spinning, dance classes.
7. Always make time for friends and family. If not in person give them a face time or call.
8. Work hard at work and become confident and knowledgeable in my position.
9. Make homemade presents and gifts.
10. Read more!

These are my own resolutions. Every person has their own way to relax and their own goals to reach. Be realistic and if you don't manage to follow your resolution it's okay! I'll be keeping you updated on how I get on. Make sure you let me know how you get on too.

My current situation

Okay, so I finished my previous job on good terms and placed the cherry on top of my Peanut Butter Truffle Cupcake. 4 years ago I set the goals I wanted to achieve and I made them and a bit more. I'm a determined woman!
Mid September 17 came along, I jumped on a plane from Milan to Edinburgh and I flew right back out again for a glorious 2 weeks with my best friend in Spain.
Then. Then it hit me. What am I doing?
Well lets just say after weeks of travelling around Scotland for job interviews and applying on so many job sites online I whittled my job search down to something more realistic.
What did I really want?
I had been living out of a suitcase for 4 years, I wanted to feel more settled down, I wanted to be able to buy plants without letting them die. However was I giving up my dream job, was I making the right decision?
Well it was tough. So many thoughts went through my head. I love a challenge and I accomplished so much in my previous work. Working 6 days a week and being on call 24/7, 7 days a week was something I was definitely willing to give up. I was tired and maybe a little burnt out. I was ready to enjoy time back home, seeing my family and in 5 years having a Christmas at home.
So I wrote a list, a lot of lists and I came to the conclusion that I wanted a change, a big change. I wanted to have time to feed my interests. Weekends to see my family and friends. Time to go to the gym and go to events.
So I applied to completely different jobs which I thought would keep me on my toes, challenge me and give me new skills and it paid off. I start my new job on the 8th of January and I am super excited. Waaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!

However there is a slight problem. The 3 and a half luxurious months I have spent back home having lie ins, eating chocolate, chinese, half battered pizzas and a whole load of cheese and biscuits has resulted in me putting on around 2 stone, having no energy and bad skin. Yep it's been fun but it's time to get back on the health band wagon.
